Ayumi Hamasaki Complete Discography (Mini-Albums / EPs)

Alongside Ayumi Hamasaki's studio albums, she has released a total of three "mini albums", or EPs. The most interesting thing to note about these releases are that, thus far, they have all been released eight years apart. With the exception of the first mini-album, NOTHING FROM NOTHING, each of Hamasaki's mini-albums have a notable array of styles and genres included in the contents, along with a DVD containing a music video for every song.

NOTHING FROM NOTHING was Hamasaki's first (and technically first album ever) and only album release under the Columbia Japan label. It included the two tracks from her first, same titled single along with two new songs. This release is quite notable for Hamasaki's high-pitched, squeaky rapping that has yet to return to her repertoire.

Due to its incredibly low sales and placing on the Oricon album chart, Hamasaki was dropped from her contract at Columbia.

Memorial address is considered Hamasaki's first official mini-album, released five years into her career and as the culmination of her 30th single celebration. Five of the songs were previously released as singles. The song "Because of You" is considered Hamasaki's first foray into the "rock" genre, while the other songs cover bubblegum pop, dark pop, power ballads and quiet ballads. The song "Memorial address -take 2 version-" is the only song to not have an accompanying music video and is considered a bonus track. This is her first album release to come with a DVD version.

FIVE is the first album release in the twelve years since Hamasaki's debut to not include any singles. Each song represents a different genre style, including Hamasaki's first (two, technically) official collaborations. The title comes not only from the five songs released, but also because it was released five months after the March 11th earthquake - the font on the cover can be read as "HOPE", Hamasaki's theme for the year after the earthquake.
